When scrapbooking August pages, the obvious place to get ideas for your journaling is from the photos you took in August. Whether you are heading for the hills for some camping or prefer to go coastal, August is usually full of sun and (hopefully) a slower pace as summer peaks. As you look at your photos/events from August what stories are emerging?
In this post I’ll share some journaling prompts with you for August photos. You may be current or you may be working with photos from the 1960’s … it’s ok, just jump in where you’re at. I’ll be posting journal prompts every month this year so eventually we will have the whole year covered with journaling ideas. Besides photos, another place to get journaling ideas is from the current Sticker Packs and Variety Mat Packs you are using. Some of my August Journal Prompts are from my photos and some are from Creative Memories Seaside Sticker Pack and Happy Camper Sticker Pack.
August Journal Prompts
Here are some journaling prompts to help you tell your stories from the photos you took in August (any year). Of course we all have different events and life circumstances but if you are stuck and not sure what to write about in your journal or in your scrapbook albums, I hope these prompts help jumpstart your journaling!
- Happy Camper…do you prefer camping? or glamping? Where are some of the areas you like to camp? One of my friends goes camping every year with the same group of friends. They have theme nights and each family is assigned a meal night. They have it down! And of course she has an album just for their yearly camping trips. Do you have any traditions like that? Or do you prefer to get away from it
all including people? - What a View…looking through your camera lens this August what views did you capture? Has this view changed over time? We take a photo of the same cape at the coast year after year and it’s amazing to see how much it has changed from the affects of the wind and the waves.
- That One Time…whether it’s the fish that got away or the time you got your vehicle stuck in the sand, we all have those stories that get repeated each year. What are some of your family stories that everyone seems to have a different version of (depending on who is telling it)? We think we will remember them but it is a good idea to write some of those down (especially your version)!
- Relax…nothing is more relaxing to me than a warm sunny day and a pair of flip flops…kicking back in a beach chair and watching the waves. How about you? Where are the places where you feel truly relaxed? Is Summer your relaxed season? Do you unplug and unwind in August?
- Shoes Optional…speaking of flip flops, what are some of your go to shoes in summer? I remember when our family took a trip to Disneyland and we were in a huddle making plans. I pointed my camera down and captured a photo of our shoes. It was so funny to realize later that two of us were wearing sneakers, two of us were wearing sandals and two of us were wearing Birkenstocks! We always had our “do you have your exit buddy” plan and so this was just so indicative of our personalities.
I hope these journal prompts and ideas are helpful to you as you write in your scrapbooks, planners and journals. (For July journal prompts, check out July Journal Prompts). If you would like weekly encouragement with your writing, join my Wednesday Writers Club on Instagram or Facebook!
