When scrapbooking March pages, the obvious place to get ideas for your journaling is from the photos you took in March. We transitioned from Winter to Spring and your photos may reflect that. As you look at your photos/events from March are there any stories emerging?
In this post I’ll share some journaling prompts with you for March photos. You may be current or you may be working with photos from the 1960’s … it’s ok, just jump in where you’re at. I’ll be posting journal prompts every month this year so eventually we will have the whole year covered with journaling ideas.

March Journal Prompts
Here are some journaling prompts to help you tell your stories from the photos you took in March (any year). Of course we all have different events and life circumstances but if you are stuck and not sure what to write about in your journal or in your scrapbook albums, I hope these prompts help jumpstart your journaling!
- Hello Spring…daffodils are blooming and crocus are popping up everywhere. Such a great opportunity to share the signs of spring in your album or journal. Birds, baby animals, and signs of spring everywhere!
- Fresh and Fun… did you get a new haircut? After emerging from winter it is sometimes fun to have a fresh start and renewed joy from the hope of longer days and sunnier weather. My son grew his hair out during the pandemic. I really liked it but he decided to get a haircut and I think they cut 5 inches off! Very fresh and fun! When he was a toddler he had the cutest curls and when he got his first haircut, I saved a lock of his hair for his baby album. I was tempted but didn’t do it this time (he’s 16)!
- Let’s Go Outside…Spring skiing or a family hike, are you getting outside more? We went to the Japanese Garden in Portland during March. It still looked like winter as things weren’t quite blooming yet but the sun was shining and it was nice to get outside!
- So Lucky!…do you celebrate St Patrick’s Day? What kinds of foods do you serve on March 17? My mom always made Corn Beef and Hash which I never liked. However, this year was my first March without my mom and I ordered Corn Beef and Hash from a local pub. I also ordered Shepherds Pie and Irish Stew. It was fun to have a theme dinner and get take out. Using the Shamrock embellishments pack I documented a “I’m so lucky” page in my journal. You could count your blessings, bullet journal your blessings, to remind yourself how “lucky” you are.
- Celebrate…We have a couple of birthdays to celebrate in March so that was easy to make some birthday pages using the Party Time! Paper. What events are you celebrating in March?
- Happy (?!) Lockdown Anniversary…Ugh, can you believe it’s been a year since the Pandemic shut down? Even though it’s not longer 2020, things still feel the same to me. How are things as you reflect on this past year? What are the losses and gains from the pandemic? This is historical and needs to be documented in your journal and scrapbook.
- Vaccinated or Not…I’ve gone back and forth with getting the vaccine or not. It’s a personal decision and one that I can see both sides. If you get the vaccine, make a photocopy of your vaccine card for your scrapbook. Document any symptoms you had and why you chose to get the vaccine (or not).
