Do you include world events in your Scrapbook albums? With the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, it reminded me of a Royal Wedding theme we had at one of our Beach Retreat Scrapbooking Weekends. Each year we would do a different theme.
“2011, the biggest wedding since Princess Diana’s. Prince William, her son, marries Kate Middleton. We themed our retreat “the Royal Wedding.”
One of our friends had just returned from England where she said there was wedding memorabilia selling all over the place in anticipation of The Wedding. She brought us all a goodie bag full of souvenirs from her trip. I put some of these wonderful mementos into my scrapbook album.
During our Royal Wedding themed scrapbook retreat, some of us wore fancy hats and we used the Queen Elizabeth cut-outs as a photo opp and took some great photos.
We usually play a BINGO game during our retreats but this time, instead of yelling “BINGO” when we filled in a line, we had to yell “KATE STOLE MY MAN!” Prince William was known at the time as one of the most eligible bachelors, haha!
Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 8, 2022. One of my scrapbooking customers is making a few special pages about the Queen’s passing that she can put into her 2022 album. I think this is fascinating. Including news articles or journaling about current events are the things that will make your albums even more meaningful and interesting in the future. Our current events will be historical events someday. Another scrapbooking customer told me she was at the World Showcase in Walt Disney World’s EPCOT when she received the news that the Queen had died. She had just visited the EPCOT UK Pavilion a couple of days before and took photos. Her Disney World scrapbook will be the perfect place to document this historical event.
When creating your family albums, you might think about adding some of the events that happen that impact your community, the nation or the world. Let me know in the comments if that’s something you’re intending to do in your album. If you are, I would love to see photos of how you incorporate news into your photo albums. Join my VIP group and you can post photos of your own albums and see ideas from others as well. (To join: just place an order on my website via my personal link creativememories.com/user/donnalyn and as a thank you, you’ll get an invite to join my VIP Facebook group “a dash of Story Community.”)
I hope you enjoyed this very short video and the tips to incorporate world events into your album.
