Are you ready for some summer card ideas? In just a few short days I’ll be heading to Minnesota for CM’s Creative Minds Conference. I’m so excited as we haven’t had a conference of this magnitude in many years. One of the CM Advisors suggested having a card exchange during conference. Those of us who want to participate get to wear a “Card Exchange” sticker and swap cards with those we meet who are also wearing the sticker.
In thinking about what kind of cards I wanted to give away, I decided to use the Sun Rays for Days collection and was easily inspired on these summer card ideas:

Creative Memories Supply List
- Sunrays for Days Paper Pack
- Sunrays for Days Sticker Pack
- Sunrays for Days Laser Cut Borders
- Laser Title Embellishments (various)
- Tape Runner
- Foam Squares
- 12-inch Trimmer (straight blade)
- Blank Card Kit (blank cards and envelopes)
- Scissors (for making the banner cuts)
Here are just a few of the many cards I made using the Sunrays For Days Paper Pack:

The first thing I did was cut the designer paper into 5.5 inches x 4.25 inches for a perfect sized background which I adhered to the front of the blank cards. Then I added strips of designer paper, layers of stickers or embellishments or laser cut borders (cut down to size). If you use Foam Squares, they are really going to pop and give your cards a nice 3D look.
I used this idea sheet from Creative Memories to come up with some of the groupings of stickers:

I hope you like these card ideas. I didn’t really have a specific layout or plan — I just cut out the paper backgrounds and then copied some of the ideas above for layering stickers. These cards will be great for summer birthdays, thank you cards and generic ‘thinking of you’ cards.
If you like the ease of a blank card and envelope, try this kit from Creative Memories:

If you prefer cutting cardstock to make your own card base, that’s always an option too. Check out my blog post for instructions on how to make your own envelopes: DIY How to Make an Envelope
Have you ever done a Card Exchange before? I would love to know about it! Comment on my Facebook page if you have a moment.
Happy Cardmaking,
