Here is a fun way to celebrate your child or grandchild each year and quickly see the progression of time as your loved one grows up! In this video I’ll show you step-by-step how I created the pages for ages 1-5 in my son’s birthday album.

For the foundation of the pages I used 12×12 paper from Creative Memories Party Time! Collection. I trimmed the paper into 8×8 inch pieces to completely “wallpaper” the scrapbook page. The leftover pieces I cut into 2×8 inch strips to use as borders on the outer edge of the layouts.

At the end of this post, I’ve listed the supplies used as well as some tips as you create your birthday album! For full instructions see this post: 8×8 Birthday Album

What to Include in a Birthday Page Layout:

  • A Picture of the Birthday Child
  • A Picture of the Cake
  • If you had a party, include a Group Photo
  • Write down the year somewhere on the page
  • Use Number Stickers to label each page with their Age that way you can quickly see their age as you flip through the album
  • Fun facts: where the Birthday Party was held, names of who attended the party
  • Words of encouragement: positive character traits or physical traits you see in your child (i.e., you are an active 4-year-old, you have a smile for everyone)

Tips:

8×8 Album Covers are only available a few times per year but 8×8 Refill Pages are available year round. I usually have a supply of 8×8 coversets on hand so if you need one, just email me or check out my website for availability: creativememories.com/user/donnalyn

You can leave the pages plain and just add a couple of Photos and Journaling each year. That will be a 5-minute page and AWESOME job! You will get all the benefits of seeing the progression of time and celebrating your child.

You can use Paper and Stickers to decorate the pages (like you see in the video). Here is a list of the supplies I used:

Creative Memories Supplies Used:

  • 8×8 Coverset and White Refill Pages (Page Protectors are included with Refill Pages)
  • Party Time! Paper Packs
  • Party Time! Sticker Pack
  • Party Time! Embellishments Pack
  • Foam Squares
  • Repositionable Tape Runner
  • 12-inch Trimmer (to cut the 12×12 Paper into 8×8 size plus cut a few 8×2″ border strips)
  • Scissors
  • Journaling Pen
  • ABC/123 Stickers

For a quick flip-through video of the entire album (ages 1-15 so far for my son), check out this post: 8×8 Birthday Scrapbook Album
